Dah and Hanu are the villages where people from Drogpa tribe live. This tribe is different from the Ladakhi tribe. The Drogpa people are culturally, racially and linguistically different from people living in other part of Ladakh. It is also worth to note that Dah and Hanu are the only two villages where tourists are allowed to visit. People of Dah Hanu are Buddhist but they also worship their own pantheon of gods.
Dah and Hang villages are situated in Dhahanu valley that is about 163 km northwest of Leh in Ladakh. Dhahanu valley is at a lower altitude than Leh, so it is warmer.

How to Reach Dah Hanu?From Leh, Dha Hanu is 163 kms. You can rent cars tor reach Dha Hanu. The route from Leh to Dha Hanu is beautiful and goes through valley. A permit is needed to enter the Dha Hanu and you can acquire the permit easily from Leh.
Where to stay in Dah HanuThese are villages, so there is no hotel or guest house to stay. But there are few tour companies offering tented accommodation.
Best RestaurantsThere is no restaurant in the area, so it is important to make your personal arrangements. Carry your own food in good quantity if you are planning to stay for more than a day.
