Taj Mahal is considered as the most beautiful building in the world and is the symbol of peace. It is located in city of Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Taj Mahal was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his wire Mumtaz Mahal in 17th century. This building is recognised by the UNESCO as a world heritage site and is also one of the the seven wonders of the modern world.

Taj Mahal campus covers an area of 42 Acres. It was built from white marbles obtained from Makrana in Rajasthan. Over 20,000 people worked on the distraction site and a few specialists involved in the construction were brought from the Europe. The chief architect of the Taj Mahal was a Persian.

Best Time To Visit Taj Mahal

There is no definite best time to visit Taj Mahal. It depends on how you want to see it. But you may surely choose months wisely. It is because seeing Taj Mahal duding summers or rainy season may become a pain. So best months to see Taj Mahal are from October to March.

Taj Mahal looks really beautiful at sunrise and sunset. You can also experience the Taj Mahal in night if you want.

Taj Mahal under Full Moon Night

It is really beautiful to see Taj Mahal in full moon night. The white-marbled building also shine and feels really beautiful. If you also want to see the Taj Mahal in Full Moon night, you must get tickets in advance.

Viewing Taj Mahal at night is available on five days on a month that also includes full moon night and two nights before and after the full moon. It is done by Archaeological Survey of India. The viewing takes place between 8:30 PM to 12:30 PM. They allow only 8 batches of about 50 people for about 30 minutes each. That means only 400 people can go.

Tickets for full moon night visit costs Rs. 510 to Indian people and Rs. 750 to Foreigners. Tickets can be bought a day in advance from the Archaeological Survey of India office situated on Mall Road. Tickets are sold between 10am to 6pm. There is always a huge rush and tickets are limited. So, go and purchase tickets in morning. Visitors are required to reach half an hour before their scheduled time.

It is also worth to note that video cameras are not allowed during night visit. They also don't allow entering inside the Taj Mahal and you can only view the Taj Mahal from a distance.

How To Reach Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal is in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. The city has Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Airport. There are several flights operating to and from Agra. Agra is also well connected to other major cities via rail network and roads. You can take a train, bus or cab from Delhi to reach Agra.

In Agra, you can take an auto or use local bus transport to reach Taj Mahal.

Tickets

There's an entry ticket. Foreigners are charged 1000 Rupees that is around USD 14 or 11 Pounds. Indian nationals are charged 40 Rupees. Entry of children below age of 15 years is free.
