Varanasi, also known as Banaras or Kashi is a popular city located at a city on the banks of the river Ganges. This place has spiritual value and is an attraction for people from around the world. Varanasi is also said to be world's oldest continually inhabited cities.

The city was founded by Lord Shiva. It has been the centre of Hindu culture and mythology, literature and art for a long time. Shiva made this city his Adobe after marrying Goddess Parvati.

Pilgrims come ro Varanasi to take a bath in Ganga and wash away sins. Many people also come here to cremate their loved ones or simply die here in a hope for liberation from the cycle of rebirth.

Kashi Vishwanath Temple is the most visited place in the city. Along with this ancient temple, the city is also known for its Ghats and Ganga Arti. Varanasi has at least 84 ghats including the Dashashwamedh Ghat, the Manikarnika Ghat, the Panchganga Ghat, and the Harishchandra Ghat. Most of the ghats are associated with Hindu legends while some are now privately owned.

Tourism is the second most important industry of the city. Most of the tourists came here for religious purposes. Domestic tourists mostly come from Bihar, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, and other parts of Uttar Pradesh. Varanasi's tourist infrastructure is not well developed but now the city is growing.
