The Yusuf Meherally is located in Taluka Panvel, Mumbai Goa Road. The Yusuf Meherally Centre is a voluntary organization, which was registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950. Yusuf Meherally was an Indian freedom fighter and socialist leader. The Centre was commenced in 1961 in memory of Yusuf Meherally and was inaugurated in 1966, by Dr. Zakir Husain, the then Vice-President.
Initially, the main aim of this center was promoting national integration and studying the problems of urbanization. Later on, after 1967 few more objective added including the transformation of urban resources through men, money, and material, and with the participation of local people. The center helped Bangladesh refugees and organized famine relief at large scale.
