Shimla has its own Airport known as Jubbarhatti or Shimla Airport. It is probably one of the rare airports available at any hill-station. The journey for Shimla by flight is mostly seen to be bumpy during landing. The availability of flights from different parts of the country is not satisfactory, moreover, it is less functional throughout the year. Thus, you can prefer Chandigarh or Delhi Airport which are more reliable as these are well-connected to important parts of the country. Deboarding to any of the airport, you can hire a cab or travel by the local buses available. You will reach Shimla with a 2 to 3 hours' drive from Chandigarh and a 6 to 7 hours’ drive from Delhi.

BY ROAD
Shimla is well-connected with HRTC buses from all parts of the state Himachal Pradesh. It has several buses transporting from different nearby areas mainly Delhi, Punjab, Jaipur, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Taxis are easily available from Delhi and Chandigarh to reach Shimla. Or, you can plan an exciting road trip to Shimla as it has good-conditioned roads.

BY TRAIN
Shimla has its own railway station where only narrow-gauge trains arrive from Kalka Station. You can reach Shimla by 5 to 6 hours from Kalka, enjoying the view of numerous tunnels and tremendous scenic beauty on the way. The other stations located near Shimla are Kalka Railway station and Chandigarh Railway Stations that are at the distance of 90 km and 113 km away from Shimla. These stations are well-connected with the other parts of the state. After deboarding to any of the stations, you can travel by the available buses or hire a cab to reach Shimla.
