Bara Imambara

The Bara Imambara in Lucknow is one of the most popular tourist destinations and a famous monuments. This is said to be the world's largest structure without the support by beams. This is the reason it is also conferred as a marvel of engineering. It is also known as Asfi Imambara. It is a place of worship for the Muslims who come here to celebrate Muharram every year.

Bara Imambara was built by Nawab Asaf-Ud-Daula, 4th Nawab of Awadh. The construction work began in 1784 and it took over 14 years to complete.

Bara Imambara is popular for Bhul Bhulaiya located at the upper floor of the monument. It is said to have 1024 entry gates but only two exists.
