Gokarna is a small temple town located at the western coast of India in the Kumta taluk of Uttara Kannada district in the state of Karnataka. Gokarna is known for its beautiful beaches. In the town main beach and Kudle beach are west facing while Paradise Beach, Om beach, Belekan beach and Half moon Beach are south facing. All pilgrims goes to Gokarna visit the main beach. The Gokarna beach forms the coast of the town and is followed by main beach in northern direction. The Main beach is open and long mainly used for surfing.
Kudle and Om beach are 6 km away from Gokarna and can be reached by rickshaw or foot while the Half moon and Paradise beach can be reached by trekking or boat. Om beach called Om beach because the shape of beach resembles with the symbol ?.

Dabolim airport in Goa is the nearest airport from Gokarna. The nearest railway station is Ankola which is 20km away from the Gokarna town. The town is well coneected by road and Bus services are also available from Bangalore and Goa.
