Bidar is situated in Karnataka and has great historic significance. The city is located around 700 km from state capital Bengaluru. It is known for architectural, historical and religious sites. The place was one of the most flourishing cities of South India in between the 11th and 16th century . It was also the centre of power of many great kingdoms such as Chalukyas, Allauddin Khilji, and Muhammad bin Tughluq.

The city is located at the mountain top and has 98 monuments of which 4 national monuments are protected by Archaeological Survey of India and 14 by the State Archaeology Department. This is the reason, it is also called "City of Whispering Monuments". The place also earned a position on the World Monument Watchlist 2014.

The place also has a value for Sikhs because it houses Gurudwara Nanak Jhira Sahib. It is believed that Saint Guru Nanak visited the place during famine in this region.

The cit has a prominent place on the Archaeological Map of India. It also has second biggest Indian Air Force training centre in the country.
