History of Valley of flowers

Till 1931 this place was totally unknown or you can say not discovered. But then some British mountaineers who were returning from the expedition of Mt.Kamet lost their way back and founded themselves in this beautiful valley of flowers. One of them was Frank Smythe who later authored a book named as “valley of flowers” after getting inspired from the beauty of the valley.
As this place is rich in greenery, flora and fauna so many botanists visited this place for study. When you will visit this place you will find a memorial stone of Joan Legge who was a renowned botanist deputed by the Royal Botanic Gardens. - She lost her life after slipping from a stone while studying the types of flowers in the valley.

Where to stay?

Well you cannot stay in a national park overnight as it can be dangerous plus authorities will also not allow you to stay there as there is no accommodation in the national park. You can make Ghangharia your base camp and you can stay there in any of the private lodges or any hotel out there.
