Rudraprayag

Rudraprayag is a small town of Uttarakhand, its name is derived from the name of Rudra, an incarnation of Lord Shiva. According to Hindu mythology, 'Narada Muni' was given the blessing by God 'Rudra' at this place. The first district Rudraprayag was a part of three districts of Chamoli, Pauri, and Tehri. On September 16, 1997, it was declared as a separate district.


This city is situated on the Sangam of the Mandakini and Alaknanda rivers. A tourist can also visit another temple situated near the Rudraprayag temple, known as Jagadamba temple. Visitors visit Agastya Muni city in huge numbers for the views of 'Shree Agasteshwar Mahadev Mandir'. According to the legends, Agastya Muni had performed penance for many years at this place.


Deoria, located in Rudraprayag, is a scenic lake overlooking. It is located at an altitude of 2438 meters above sea level. The pleasant and wonderful images of the peaks of Gangotri, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamunotri, and Nilkanth are reflected in this lake along with the Chaukhamba peak.


The other important tourist destinations of Rudraprayag are Guptakashi, Ukhimath, Jokoli, and Tungnath. Visitors can also visit Kalimath, Kartik Swamy Temple, Indrasani Mansa Devi Temple, Chandrishila, Maa Hariali Devi Mandir, Koteshwar Temple, and Madhmeshwar Temple.
