Hajo is a pilgrimage centre for Hindus, Buddhists, and Muslims. The place is located on the banks of Brahmaputra River, at a distance of about 24 km from Guwahati.
Hayagriva Madhava Mandir is the most famous temple of Hajo situated on the Monikut hill. Kedareswara Temple is another notable temple located 42 km east from Hajo on the top of Dewangiri Hillock.
Some Buddhists believe that the Buddha attained Nirvana at Hayagriva Madhava temple. So, the place also attracts Buddhist Monks.
