Roopkund Trek
Roopkund is a high altitude trek to a mysterious lake also known as Skeleton Lake. Roopkund is situated in a remote area of Chamoli District of Uttarakhand. This is an isolated place in the base of Trishul Peak and Nanda Ghunti. The maximum altitude is 5029 m that makes it an interesting trekking experience.
Roopkund lake has hundreds of human skeletons and remains of horses. This is there reason it has been an attraction for many. Several researchers are trying to find out why there are so many skeletons. Local believed that these are of around 15th to 16th century when hundreds of people died due to strong hailstorm.
