If you are thinking to visit Amritsar, you shouldn't miss Wagah Border, also known as Wagah-Attari Border. It is the boundary separating India and Pakistan. Wagah Border is located at a distance of 28 km from Amritsar. It runs along the GT road between Amritsar and Lahore. People from all over the country visit this place every day. But the question is, what's special in visiting this place?
The lowering of the flags ceremony is held at the Attari-Wagah border daily by military people from both India and Pakistan. Soldiers from Indian Border Security Force and Pakistan Rangers take part in this ceremony with absolute seriousness and display a patriotic performance every day. During this ceremony, National Anthem is played, people chant slogans of patriotism and a few people also get a chance to dance on patriotic songs.
It looks like a musical battleground where people from both the side shout patriotic slogans of their country.

Wagah Border Parade Timings
The lowering of the flags ceremony takes place every evening during the sunset time. It starts with a blustering parade from soldiers of both the sides and ends up after lowering of the two nations' flags. It starts at 4:15 PM in winter and 5:15 PM in summer. The ceremony lasts for about 40 minutes. You need to visit at least an hour before the scheduled time if you want a proper seat to experience this ceremony.
What is the price of Wagah Border Parade tickets
It is absolutely free. There is no no ticket price to watch the ceremony. You should not pay a single penny to anyone.
How To Book Seats in Advance
It is possible to book a seat in advance if you want. This makes your entry easier and you get a closer seat. You can book seats in advance by going to BSF Kent located in "Khasa" village. It is located a few Kilometer from the Attari border. You need to take your ID proof while going there.
How To Reach Wagah Border
Wagah Border is located at 28 KM from Amritsar. You can take private taxi or Private Bus (if you are there with a large group) from Amritsar that will drop you and then take you back to Amritsar. We got a 5 seater taxi for Rs. 1000 that dropped us at Wagah Border and then brought us back to our Hotel near Golden Temple.

Things You Should Know Before Visiting Wagah Border
- There are jammers in the ceremony area. So, there will be no mobile network.
- There is no ticket or fee for the event. Do not pay to anyone.
- Thousnads of people come to see this ceremony, so visit the place an hour before to get the proper seat.
- There are special stand for foreign tourists. If you are foreign national, do not carry your passport.
- Cameras are permitted but you are not allowed to carry bass. Lockers are available there at a cost of Rs. 50.
- There is no ticket or fee for the event. Do not pay to anyone.
- Food stalls are there who sell products at printed rates. A few people also sell popcorn and water bottles at stands.
