The Canadian government has issued a travel advisory to Canadians about traveling to Jammu and Kashmir. They said people should not go there because the security situation is not safe and can change suddenly. This advice comes during a time when there’s tension and disagreements between Canada and India, especially regarding an issue related to Khalistan.
“Avoid all travel to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir due to the unpredictable security situation. There is a threat of terrorism, militancy, civil unrest, and kidnapping. This advisory excludes traveling to or within the Union Territory of Ladakh,” Canada stated in the advisory for India, marking it an “Exercise A High Degree Of Caution”.
This action has made the problems between India and Canada even worse. Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, said that the Indian government might be involved in the killing of Khalistan extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June. Because of this, Canada sent away an important Indian official from Ottawa. India did the same and sent a senior Canadian diplomat away. The recent fight in Anantnag might be a reason why Canada is telling people not to go there, showing that the situation is complicated and changing.
